This is a review of the Shooting Targets 7 (ST7) Telescoping legs and cross bar. I recently bought the original 3/4 to 1/2 telescoping legs and the 1" cross bar connector. I have been looking for a way to shrink down my gongs when traveling to our farm. Currently I use a 7 gong system that I bought at Shooting Targets 7 some time ago. Because of its size it always gets left behind. The telescoping legs and cross bar seemed like a great way to shrink the overal size. As you can see from the pictures the smaller bag is much more managable vs the older one. The size went from 4 feet to under 3 (34 inches). 4 feet is hard to get in an SUV packed for the week. 34" is much easier. I got the original cross bar and legs. I cut both the 3/4 and 1/2 inch legs parts at 30". If I did it again I would probably drop that to 28. The cross bars were cut to 24" but would probably make them 25. The cross bar had a couple of issues. The bolt that keeps the inner tube in place constantly falls out. The bar itself sagged even without gongs on it. I mentioned it to ST7 that if the connector needed to be longer as well as the inner tube. The next thing I know Mark said they had redesigned it and sent me the new version. The original version pegged the 7 inch Cross bar with a nut that if fully tightend was held in place. When loose if fell out. The redesign made the connector wider and added an internal clamp for the longer 25" 3/4 inch inner tube thus getting rid of the bolt that held it in place. Once put together it does not sag like the original did. Im not sure that it needed to extend out to 25" but 7" was definalty to short. Overall the new version fixed the isues with the original verison. Setup is very simple. Take the legs and extend to your desired length (I marked my legs at 4 feet). Attach the multi tube connector to the legs with the pins. Put the gong holders on and the collars on the cross bar. I would recomend ST7 hanging hooks as they make it quicker than those that require tightening. I also use the 1" steel emt colars vs that spring clips as they are much easier to work with. They just need allen wrench to tighten in place. The spring clips require a pair of plyers to open them up and I have launched one Based on the Video length it took 5 mins 30 seconds to setup and be ready to shoot. I like business that listen to their customers. Shooting Targets 7 is willing to listen.
