Terms of service
Who You’re Buying From
The following section is provided for information only. It is not part of the agreement between us — the binding terms begin at “The Terms” below.
Before the legal language, here’s who we are, because you deserve to know that before you spend a dollar.
ShootingTargets7 LLC is a veteran-owned American manufacturer in Hudsonville, Michigan. We’ve been building steel targets since 2012. Mark Leenheer, our founder, is an Army veteran (10th Mountain Division) and a former Military Police officer and armorer, with 15 years as a machinist and machine builder before that.
Our AR500 targets are made in Michigan from US-milled steel. We laser cut and finish them in our own shop, and they’re zinc plated by a US plating shop. They are not imported, and they are not drop-shipped from overseas.
You can verify that we’re a real company without taking our word for it:
- Registered with the U.S. federal government in SAM.gov as ShootingTargets7 LLC, CAGE Code 835U4. Anyone can look that up.
- We’ve filled purchase orders for federal, state, and municipal agencies, including law enforcement and corrections departments. Contract references available on request.
- A real address you can mail something to: 4700 22nd Ave, Hudsonville, MI 49426.
- A real phone number answered by a real person: (844) 783-3548, 10–6 Eastern, Monday–Friday. Mark usually answers it himself.
- Email Mark directly: mark@shootingtargets7.com.
Our Lifetime Guarantee is real. It’s described in our Refund Policy, and Section 12 below confirms it rather than quietly cancelling it — which, if you’ve read a few of these documents, you’ll know is not the norm.
The Terms
By using this website or buying from us, you agree to what follows. We’ve written it in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, call and ask.
1. Scope and Acceptance
These Terms apply to everyone who uses shootingtargets7.com — browsers, customers, vendors, and anyone who submits content. The website, and all information, tools, and services available through it (the “Service”), are offered to you conditioned on your acceptance of these Terms and the policies referenced in them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
Any new products added to the store are also subject to these Terms. If these Terms are considered an offer, acceptance is expressly limited to these Terms.
Our store runs on Shopify, which provides the e-commerce platform.
2. Age and Lawful Use
You must be at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence to buy from us. If you allow a minor dependent to use this site, you’re responsible for their use of it.
Under federal law, steel targets are not firearms and are not regulated as firearms. State and local rules vary, and you are responsible for using our products legally and safely where you live — please check your own state and local requirements.
Don’t use our products for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose, and don’t violate any law in your jurisdiction (including copyright law) in using the Service. Don’t transmit worms, viruses, or any destructive code. We reserve the right to immediately terminate your Services for any breach of these Terms.
3. General Conditions
We reserve the right to refuse service or refuse any order to anyone, for any reason, at any time, in our sole discretion. In practice this is used mainly for suspected fraud and for bulk orders that appear to come from dealers, resellers, or distributors without an account — but that list is illustrative, not a limit on the right.
You understand that your content (not including credit card information) may be transferred unencrypted and may involve (a) transmissions over various networks and (b) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks or devices. Credit card information is always encrypted in transit.
You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of the Service, use of the Service, or access to the Service, or any contact on the website through which the Service is provided, without our express written permission.
4. Product Information and Specifications
We take our published specifications seriously. Our thickness chart, energy ratings, and velocity limits reflect our own testing and engineering experience, and we work to keep them current.
Two honest caveats:
Steel varies. Every heat of steel differs slightly in hardness. This is unavoidable and true of every steel target maker on earth. One target may pit at a slightly lower velocity than another. Our published limits are working guidance, not a laboratory guarantee for every individual plate.
We can’t see your range. Follow our Golden Rules — correct thickness for your ammunition, impact velocity below the limit published there, no steel-core or steel-jacketed ammunition, proper downward mounting angle, and eye protection every time. For questions of legality, safe distance, or backstop design where you live, confirm with your range safety officer, local ordinances, or the relevant authority. We know our steel; we don’t know your range.
We are not responsible if information made available on this site is not accurate, complete, or current. The material on this site is provided for general information and should not be relied upon or used as the sole basis for decisions without consulting primary, more accurate, more complete, or more timely sources. Any reliance on material on this site is at your own risk.
That said — if something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we’ll correct it. If a product you receive doesn’t match how we described it, contact us; see Section 12 for how that’s handled.
This site may contain historical information, which is not current and is provided for reference only. We may modify the contents of the site at any time, but we have no obligation to update any information on it.
5. Pricing, Availability, and Changes to the Service
Prices are subject to change without notice. We may modify or discontinue the Service, or any product or content, at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or to any third party for any modification, price change, suspension, or discontinuance.
If we’ve made a pricing or description error — a typo, a mis-set discount, a wrong spec — we reserve the right to correct it and to change, update, or cancel affected orders, including after you’ve placed one. If we cancel your order, we refund what you paid for it. We’ll try to reach you at the email, billing address, or phone number provided with the order.
6. Products and Orders
Some products may be available exclusively online and in limited quantities, and are subject to return or exchange only under our Refund Policy.
We’ve made every effort to display the colors and images of our products accurately. We can’t guarantee how your monitor renders color, so finish and shade may look slightly different in person.
We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to limit sales of our products or Services to any person, geographic region, or jurisdiction, and to limit quantities — exercised case by case, in our sole discretion. Any offer for any product on this site is void where prohibited. We may limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household, or per order, including orders placed under the same account, the same credit card, or the same billing or shipping address.
Except as expressly stated in Section 12, we do not warrant that the quality of any product, service, information, or other material you purchase or obtain will meet your expectations, or that any errors in the Service will be corrected.
Please keep your account, shipping, and payment information current and accurate so we can complete your order and reach you if needed.
Where we cancel an order and you have been charged, we refund the amounts you paid for that order, less any amounts you owe us, and we may hold a refund for a reasonable period while we complete a fraud or chargeback investigation.
7. Third-Party Tools and Links
We may provide access to third-party tools that we neither monitor nor control. You acknowledge that we provide access to such tools “as is” and “as available,” without any warranties, representations, or conditions of any kind and without any endorsement. We have no liability whatsoever arising from or relating to your use of optional third-party tools. Any use of them is entirely at your own risk and discretion, and you should make sure you’re familiar with, and approve of, the terms on which the relevant third party provides them.
We may offer new services or features through the website in the future. Those are also subject to these Terms.
Our site may link to third-party websites that aren’t affiliated with us, and may include third-party materials. We are not responsible for examining or evaluating their content or accuracy, and we do not warrant and will not have any liability or responsibility for any third-party materials, websites, products, or services. We are not liable for any harm or damages related to the purchase or use of goods, services, resources, content, or any other transactions made in connection with any third-party website. Review their policies before you transact, and direct any complaints about third-party products to that third party.
8. Reviews, Comments, and Submissions
If you send us reviews, photos, range footage, product ideas, suggestions, or other materials (“comments”) — whether at our request or on your own initiative — you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to use, edit, copy, publish, distribute, translate, and otherwise exploit those comments in any medium, at any time, without restriction. We are under no obligation to keep comments confidential, to pay compensation for them, or to respond to them.
You agree that your comments will not violate any right of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy, personality, or other personal or proprietary right, and will not contain libelous or otherwise unlawful, abusive, or obscene material, or any virus or malware that could affect the operation of the Service or any related website. You may not use a false email address, impersonate anyone, or otherwise mislead us or third parties about the origin of any comments. You are solely responsible for your comments and their accuracy.
We may, but have no obligation to, monitor, edit, or remove content we determine in our sole discretion to be unlawful, offensive, threatening, libelous, defamatory, pornographic, obscene, or otherwise objectionable, or to violate any party’s intellectual property or these Terms. We take no responsibility and assume no liability for comments posted by you or any third party.
9. Your Personal Information
How we collect and use your information is covered in our Privacy Policy.
10. Errors, Inaccuracies, and Omissions
Occasionally there may be typographical errors, inaccuracies, or omissions on the site relating to product descriptions, pricing, promotions, offers, shipping charges, transit times, or availability. We reserve the right to correct them, and to change or update information or cancel orders, at any time without prior notice, including after you have submitted your order. Where we cancel, Section 5 governs the refund.
We undertake no obligation to update, amend, or clarify information on the site except as required by law. No specified update or refresh date should be taken to mean that all information on the site has been modified or updated.
11. Prohibited Uses
In addition to other prohibitions in these Terms, you are prohibited from using the site or its content: (a) for any unlawful purpose; (b) to solicit others to perform or participate in any unlawful acts; (c) to violate any international, federal, provincial, or state regulations, rules, laws, or local ordinances; (d) to infringe upon or violate our intellectual property rights or those of others; (e) to harass, abuse, insult, harm, defame, slander, disparage, intimidate, or discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, race, age, national origin, or disability; (f) to submit false or misleading information; (g) to upload or transmit viruses or any other malicious code that will or may affect the functionality or operation of the Service, any related website, other websites, or the Internet; (h) to collect or track the personal information of others; (i) to spam, phish, pharm, pretext, spider, crawl, or scrape; (j) for any obscene or immoral purpose; or (k) to interfere with or circumvent the security features of the Service, any related website, other websites, or the Internet.
We reserve the right to terminate your use of the Service or any related website for violating any prohibited use.
12. Warranties — What We Do and Don’t Promise
What we expressly warrant. Our Lifetime Return / Refund Guarantee is a binding commitment, and nothing in these Terms cancels it. The Guarantee, including all of its conditions, exclusions, and procedures, is set out in our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. In summary — and the Refund Policy governs if there’s any difference — we will replace or refund a steel target that fails, provided it was used in accordance with our Golden Rules and within our published limitations for thickness, bullet energy, and impact velocity, was not shot with ammunition containing steel, and is not otherwise excluded under the Refund Policy.
The Guarantee covers our steel targets. It does not cover stands, hangers, chains, brackets, mounting hardware, or other accessories, which are covered only by our standard Refund Policy return terms.
“Lifetime” means the service life of the target under normal use consistent with the Golden Rules and our published limitations. The Guarantee runs to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
Your exclusive remedy under the Guarantee is replacement of the target or refund of its purchase price, at our option and as set out in the Refund Policy. That is the full extent of what we owe on a Guarantee claim. The limitation of liability in Section 13 continues to apply to all other damages of any kind arising from or relating to a Guarantee claim.
What we don’t warrant. EXCEPT FOR THE GUARANTEE DESCRIBED ABOVE, AND TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR PRODUCTS AND THIS SERVICE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT ANY REPRESENTATION, WARRANTIES, OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, MERCHANTABLE QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, DURABILITY, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not guarantee, represent, or warrant that your use of the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. We do not warrant that the results obtained from use of the Service will be accurate or reliable. You expressly agree that your use of, or inability to use, the Service is at your sole risk. We may remove the Service for indefinite periods or cancel it at any time without notice to you.
Why the disclaimer exists. Steel targets are used with firearms, at distances and with ammunition we can’t see or control, on mounting hardware and backstops we didn’t build. We stand behind our steel. We can’t stand behind how it gets used.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no case shall ShootingTargets7 LLC, or our directors, officers, owners, employees, affiliates, agents, contractors, interns, suppliers, service providers, or licensors, be liable for any injury, loss, claim, or any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, special, or consequential damages of any kind, including without limitation lost profits, lost revenue, lost savings, loss of data, replacement costs, or any similar damages, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or otherwise, arising from your use of the Service or any product procured using the Service, or for any other claim related in any way to your use of the Service or any product — including but not limited to any errors or omissions in any content, or any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of the Service or any content or product posted, transmitted, or otherwise made available via the Service — even if advised of their possibility.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Service, or any product, from all causes of action and under all theories of liability, will not exceed the amount you paid us for the product giving rise to the claim.
Because some states or jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, in those states or jurisdictions our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ShootingTargets7 LLC and our parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, owners, agents, contractors, licensors, service providers, subcontractors, suppliers, interns, and employees, from any claim or demand — including reasonable attorneys’ fees — made by any third party due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms or the documents they incorporate by reference, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, it is nonetheless enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law, and the unenforceable portion is severed. That determination does not affect the validity or enforceability of any remaining provision.
16. Termination
These Terms are effective unless and until terminated by either you or us. You may terminate at any time by telling us you no longer wish to use our Services, or simply by ceasing to use the site.
If in our sole judgment you fail, or we suspect that you have failed, to comply with any term of these Terms, we may terminate this agreement at any time without notice. You will remain liable for all amounts due up to and including the date of termination, and we may deny you access to our Services or any part of them.
Obligations and liabilities incurred before the termination date survive termination for all purposes. This includes the Guarantee — except that we may decline Guarantee service to anyone whose access was terminated for fraud, chargeback abuse, or breach of these Terms.
17. Entire Agreement
Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
These Terms, together with the policies we post on this site (including the Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, and Privacy Policy, each incorporated by reference), constitute the entire agreement between you and us and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements, communications, or proposals, whether oral or written. Where these Terms and an incorporated policy differ on the Guarantee, the Refund Policy governs.
Headings are included for convenience only and do not limit or otherwise affect these Terms. Any ambiguity in the interpretation of these Terms shall not be construed against the drafting party.
18. Governing Law
These Terms, and any separate agreements under which we provide you Services, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
19. Changes to These Terms
You can review the most current version of these Terms at any time on this page. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change, or replace any part of these Terms by posting updates to our website. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to the website following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
