Q: Can these handle rifles?
A: I've tested these with .308 and they have held up fine. They might bend from a direct hit with over 1750 fpe but I have not tested this yet.
Q: Does it matter what end I use?
A: No, but the small end will work with our eared gongs up to 10" while the large end will work up to 12" eared gongs. The Mini S hooks can hang up to 10" eared gongs on 3/4" (.922 dia) EMT conduit.
Q: Does it matter what end the hooks face?
A: Yes, these have been updated with a tang that keeps the targets from riding up the shank. Face the open end toward the shooter.
What can they hang on?
Small end -3/4" EMT conduit .922 od (outer diameter)
Big end - 1" EMT conduit 1.163 od
NOTE: Pipe's sized by ID (inner diameter)

See the far right in the photo. The small gong is hanging from the s hanger. I swear the only way to know how to make something this handy is to be a shooter and know what works. Another excellent shooting targets 7 product.
These hangers work great and after hundreds of rounds the ultra mega targets stayed put!
I'm not sure if the "specs" changed(?), but these aren't 1:7.5 scale, they're just a hair larger than my NRA 22lr (1:5) targets?... I'd rather have these larger ("full fifth") targets, NRA rimfire Silhouette is the orange flags (100/85/60/40m), with 100/75/50/25 yards in green.

Hangers work very well, but I’m annoyed that these are opposite from the NRL 22 hanger system. T posts must be reversed when using one from the other.

The S hook is a simple, cost effective way to hang the free gongs I got with my orders. I could come up with something myself, but it wouldn't be worth the time spent, and it wouldn't be AR steel. These are a no-brainer for me.
The small s hooks work great with the NRL set. We use them for several different matches and target sizes.

Quick set up and super fun plinking.
I’m not really sure if you can have enough of these (along with pear holders), but I’m almost there. [;-) I use them from conduit also to give a variety of spots to hang just about any other target, endless fun. A little caution is needed if using at close range since the targets will be vertical and there is a bit of splatter (wrap around lenses and a baseball cap recommended), or be 25+ yards away.
Works great! Fits pole from Shooting Targets 7 perfectly. I have chain connected hanging gongs; no problem placing the chain link onto the metal strap.
