How it works
➊
Required to start
You must successfully hit the 2.25" target first before moving on to any other target.
➋
No skipping
Once you've hit the 2.25", work your way up one paddle at a time, in order. You must take a shot at the next target before you're allowed to do anything else — no skipping ahead, and no voluntarily dropping back to easier targets. Each shooter has 10 shots total.
↕
What counts as a hit
The paddle must fully switch sides to count. Grazes or any partial movement that doesn't flip the paddle won't score. And because Climb to Glory has no stems — a major flaw of conventional KYL targets — you can't cheat the system with a lucky stem strike. You have to put real lead on steel.
Between rounds
Paddles aren't reset — they stay wherever the last shooter left them. The switch-sides rule still applies, so every round starts with a fresh layout. Same target, new challenge.
↩
When you miss
A miss is what unlocks your options. Until you miss, you must keep climbing — one paddle at a time. But once a miss happens, you haven't lost any points, and your remaining shots are yours to use either of these two ways:
Your options after a miss
A
Try the missed target again. Once you hit it, you've earned that point — and you can keep climbing.
B
Drop back to any target you've already hit and keep shooting it to bank more points with your remaining shots.
✅
Your earned points are always safe.Once a target is hit, that point is banked — no miss can ever take it away.
💡
Strategy
You can't skip ahead — every target gets a shot. But once you miss, the question becomes where to aim the rest of your shots. If a small target keeps beating you, drop back and stack points on one you can hit consistently. A guaranteed hit beats a hopeful one every time.
52pts max
Hit the first 7 targets once each (28 pts), then use your remaining 3 shots to hit the 0.50" summit target three times (24 pts) — all 10 shots, perfectly placed.
🏆
Tie-Breaker Round
Used only when two or more shooters are tied after the final round
1
Each tied shooter takes one shot at the 0.50" target. If no one can hit the 0.50", move up to the next larger target.
2
If the first shooter hits, the second shooter must also hit to stay in.
3
Continue one shot at a time until one shooter misses. The other shooter wins.
Step-by-step instructions for setting up your Climb to Glory target system. No guesswork. No missing parts. Print it, or pull it up on your phone at the range.
Climb To Glory ( CTG ) is another great target system designed by ST7. I attached pics of the parts included in the shipment as well as the completed target system. Fun to assemble and works flawlessly when shot with a PCP pellet rifle. I have not tried rimfire yet but no reason to expect anything less than perfection.
FedEx delivered my Climb to Glory target about one hour before my scheduled training time at the range, I put it together in about 15 min. I took it to the range and it performed better then expected, I shoot PCP's and was a little concerned about the strength of the springs but it was no issue, at 50 yards with my .22 Cal @47 and 58Flbs turned the paddles with no problem, the complete assembly was sturdy, I even shot at the back bone to see if I can turn it over and didn't even shake, no dents or markings, I will be practicing soon with .25 Cal soon, I'll keep postings. I have some excellent videos I'll post soon, they are too large now.
In conclusion: like other products I have purchased from ST7 lots of fun, well made, good quality, it really tests your skills in the wind.
Mark was very helpful in answering couple of questions that I had within an hour of sending my email (that was before it even started to sell) thanks Mark.
Recently received this CLIMB TO GLORY TARGET from SHOOTING TARGETS 7. I ordered the target with the offered airgun springs. The target is great fun and even our sub 12 ft lb airguns will turn the paddles. Follow the directions for assembly and you will not have any problems with it at all. Once again SHOOTING TARGETS 7 surprises me with their ingenuity. I am seriously thinking about getting another one with heavier springs to accompany the ST7 KYL rimfire target set we have. That would be a great combination for our precision rimfire shooting.

HAYWARD HILL AIRGUN
Used it at 50 yards with 22LR high velocity rounds. Paddles flipped sides consistently. Unable to knock it over by shooting the upright post. Well made. I'd like to see the leg disassembly made easier. Mouse hole the rear leg bolt holes so they can be removed by only loosening the nut, not by removing the nut completely. Bolt the rear legs together so they can, if desired, come off and on in one piece.
Quality made, fast shipping. Used in a 22 rimfire match today. 50 yards, standard velocity. Only problem I had was the potential for two smallest targets to vibrate and flip on their own. Used the air rifle springs as instructed, still did it. Will try something else, but it was annoying. Everyone did love shooting it.

Hey Steve, thanks so much for your review. When that happens, increase your lean angle. You should find about 10° to be optimal. We've got a free app for that. You can grab it here just visit this URL on any smartphone. https://app.shootingtargets7.com/
I wish it were a bit taller, but we’re mounting it on a 6” thick hunk of gluelam beam about 3’ long so that should take care of it.
Did have a couple springs come off the paddle, but giving them a twist so they are “trying” to grab the paddle solved that for the day.
Did have some paddle bounce backs, solid hit and it flipped over and back. This was on the 3 heaviest paddles.
A few times we got a sticky paddle that did not reappear on the opposite side, but the next hit on another paddle got it to reappear (not necessarily on the side it should have.
All shooting was with .22LR <1100fps at 100yd. The 1/2” is a DICKENS and much harder than a 1/2” hanger.
Brilliant target, hopefully it holds up, it’s a new favorite.
