Well a chain is a chain is a chain...... But when you get them paired, cut to a good length, plus get the bolts, for far less than any Home Depot/Lowes charges, this deal is a no brainer. Cant go wrong.

Just set up my new targets in preparation for a trip. Easy to use, looks plenty strong, all parts that were needed were included and then some. I really like the ability to remove the 2x4 and store the legs and leg mounts as a unit. This looks like it it going to be fun!

If this is your first time buying plates, save yourself the headache and the hassle and just buy this set. It has everything you need and holds the plates at a perfect angle for safety. It is very easy to install, and gives you flexibility for mounting options. The carriage bolt also has a hex head to make it easier to tighten and secure the bolts. They really did an excellent job putting this kit together.

What I've found is that the chains work best with two hole type gongs. I'm getting a lot of twist with single hole gongs mounted with the two chains.

Chose to go with this over the rubber straps. Excellent choice in my opinion but I am very hard on equipment. I think anyone would love the dependability and durability of this product.

Easy to install. Great hardware, nothing cheap or too small. Perfect heavy duty sizes. Ought to last decades if I do my part and hit the target not the chain. Creates the perfect angle as well. My first hanger was rubber straps and the spall was hitting directly below the steel. Good enough. These chains and the proper bolts in the kit, now the spall is hitting at a backward angle from the target. Perfect.

Great hardware kit

To start with the the order was received in a very timely manner. Hanging the target (gong) was straight forward using the chain and other items. It was so nice having everything there and not needed to run to the store to make the purchase. Well worth the price.

The picture shows the AR400 3/16" plates with the 1", 2", 3", 4", and 8" plates all hanging from the kit that ShootingTargets7 sells. I just put them on two T posts and all is well. The only negative I can think of is that when you use two chains on single hold plates, it cants the plate a few degrees to the side. It is because you have two chains opposite each other but one is further back on the bolt and therefore is pulling it in that direction. They will not hang even. Great plates though. Heavy duty and plenty for my .22LR at 50 yards. I sprayed them with white paint and it makes it easier to see impact. I will order more in the future, but might try the straps instead of chains to keep the plates from twisting. Overall, pleased with the product and pleased with ShootingTargets7.

Purchasing all of these parts from the hardware store is SO much more expensive. Also, these are all super high quality parts. The chain will not break by getting shot with a 5.56 at about 100 yards. So nice!

I couldn't be happier. Quality is top notch and everything shipped quick and was packaged well. If I had any thing to bit pick, it would be that the metal used on the t-post brackets were just a wee bit thicker. Everything works well! You should buy their hanger kits as the hardware is great and really helps you dial in the downward angle of the targets.

No directions came with how to mount the kit with the GONG, however when I accidently passed the computer cursor over the image of the GONG it showed me how to hook it up!

This mounting kit is a must!!! I added seven new ar500 1/2" gongs ( purchased from shootingtargets7.com ) to my rifle range. These mounting kits made it a snap. We like how it angles the targets and everything but the hook or eye bolt is included. The 12" chain length was perfect for us. I will be ordering all my future targets with these mounting kits.

These are great for the getting your target up as soon as you open the box; and it ships free if ordered with the target. Cost is similar to going to your local or other hardware store and purchasing the products individually; but the best part is you don't have to drive to the store, wait on the attendant to cut the chain or pick through the nuts and bolts bins praying some kid did not mix a metric bolt in there for fun.

This mounting equipment is definitely worth the buy but i'm running into 2 problems when using larger calibers: 1. Each shot will vibrate the locking nuts loose. 2. The carriage bolts flex under the stress which could lock them permanently inside the target. Don't get me wrong this is the best and safest method i've seen so far for mounting gongs and like targets but having to constantly re-secure the locking screws and bolts is kind of annoying. ### MARK'S NOTE as of 05/2014 all mounting kits now include nylock nuts ###

I found it easier to order these than to experiment getting the right parts at the store. They place the targets at the correct angle which is important. The quality is good, shipping great, and price very fair. The only thing I changed was to replace the 2 end nuts to lock nuts so I could be assured they would not loosen, although this may not really be needed. I would recommend this mounting kit. #Marks note, "Gary we heard you, all mounting kits now come with Nylock nuts"

This is great for mounting targets - the approach with the bolts to cant a target is SMART - I have used this idea on other steel I have from other places as well. FOr what you get in this kit it's a little "expensive" - but - it's also very convenient... you open the box, take this kit and the target and yo uare good to go. Sometimes the price premium is worth the convenience... in this case - I'd recommend the kit!

after you walk 3-400 yards again because your cheap chain, rope, wire or whatever broke again you will understand the value of 9 bucks worth of quality hardware

I have purchased multiple sizes of the 3/16" and 3/8" gongs and am happy with the product. It does make the target experience more exciting than just paper. I have made paint stencils to put a "bulls eye" on them and that increases the fun. The mounting chains kit ensures the correct angle for bullet deflection. I am satisfied with the product and service. The chain kit has been improved and is easy to install on the gongs. The only problem is that I hit the front end of one bolt and then it was history, I replaced it and all is back in order.

Great idea to safely hang the gongs! If you haven't shot steel before, buy this kit. It allows the gong to hang at a slight angle, deflecting bullets downward. If you shoot steel straight on, you can be hit by a ricocheting bullet. I bought only one set for two targets and wish I'd have bought two!

The mounting kits offer a convenient way to mount the gongs at the proper angle with little effort. Well worth the money. My only complaint was that a round of 6.5 hit the link attached to the plate and broke it. The odds of that?? Otherwise, great product.

I thought of buying the mounting hardware all at my local hardware store, but these have the convenience factor. It took no time at all to place the order, vs making a trip to the local store to procure the bits to hang the targets. When I buy more targets, I'll buy more of these too. My time is valuable, Mark ships quickly, threw in a free 3" target with my order (likely depends on what you order?) and saved me time. Perfect.

The mounting kit keeps the deflection angle down and into the berm, which is required at my range. They started adding lock nuts to the mounting kit, at least the last one I just got had them. That makes the setup perfect. Now If I could just stop shooting the chain.

I bought one of each size (except 16") and they all fit and shipped in one box. The arrived in just a couple days and they are of great quality. I like the design of the mounting kit since it tilts the targets down and adds extra safety while shooting steel. The 10" bullseye came with it's own mounting and I use that. Honestly though, I haven't used the other mounting kits I bought. They are good design and value, but I'm lazy and I just use one of the target mounting holes to hang them on a shepard's hook / plant hanger. Fast and simple, but doesn't provide the downward angle that these mounting kits do. I highly recommend you put down the paper and pick up some steel!

Ordered because of convenience of everything needed was in one package. I was very surprised at the quality of the chain. Heavy duty. Haven't hit it yet, but I suspect it will hold up to 9mm fire. Will order again. Timely shipping but package was beat up and partially opened, due to heavy target purchased at same time.

I ordered extra hardware just in case. Installation is simple and the price is better than sorting through your hardware store bins to find the best nuts, bulys and washers. These folks know their products. Buy the installation kits. It's worth it! PS - I used 3/8" eye bolts through the 2x4 and 3/8" spring hooks to quickly attach the chains on my steel. Makes for quick assembly and target changes.

This mounting kit is very nice. you definitely know when you hit the target cause it bounces pretty good. Also target can ring freely.

I ordered 4 of the mounting kits to go with four gongs that I ordered (4,8,10 and 12" gongs). The mounting kits work great and are designed for easy installation. It took only minutes to assemble the four mounting kits and attach them to the gongs that I purchased. I mounted all four gongs and mounting kits to a 2 X 4 - 8ft long, and then hung the set in two fence posts designed for fence rails. Looks and functions great. Hanging kits work excellent and present the targets at just the right angle. Shipping from ShootingTargets7 was extremely fast, took only like 3 days max to get to NC. I would definitely recommend these mounting kits to someone interested in setting up a shooting range, and believe it was much easier and cheaper than going to a hardware store to purchase the parts. I would also highly recommend purchasing them from ShootingTargets7.

This is probably the most hassle-free solution of hanging your steel targets. You can be "up and shooting" in 10 minutes or less with these kits. Sure you could get the components from a hardware store but by the time you factored in your time and gas I doubt you are much cheaper off. One suggestion, the single hole 3" target hanging from a single chain will not always present itself square to the shooter. This is easliy resolved by using 2 foot worth of chain and hang it from two attachment points. Doesn't require rocket science but a separate mounting kit would be nice? -Marks note, using the two chains of a mounting kit in the single hole works well for squaring the target up. I'll add a picture on the site of what I am talking about.

For us, the value of this kit is in the idea of using standard hardware to hang a steel target in such a way as to get a permanent tilt downward. Very valuable. I like to tell students that bleeding from splatter is part of the training. Right. Some of them even act as if they believe me. As to the kit itself, and again I say "for us," the chains are too short. Furthermore, it is easy to purchase the nuts, bolts, and various washers from any decent hardware store and keep them in stock. Get high quality bolts (note code on head of bolt) or they will break in a very short time. For many people the kit would be convenient, however. This outfit is outstanding in quality of goods and services. Outstanding.

The mounting kit was easy to install and perfectly secure. For holding the plates, I use 'The Last Stand' frame (made from inexpensive & durable rebar).

Simple but does the job and is built to last. I slightly altered the forward lean, but I understand the safety involved. Heavily built to last and still function as advertised. If there isn't one already designed the next thing is to make a stand to hang multiple gongs of various sizes. I put "S" hooks on the open end of my mounting chains to make it easy to hang them up on various types of stands. A piece of chain link fencing stretched across a wooden frame stand works good for me and the "S" hooks make it fast to mount the gongs.

You'll regret not getting the hanger kit with your gong! The kit has everything you need to get started shooting right away. This kit will allow your gongs to hang at a slightly downward angle that deflects rounds into the ground, safety first! I gave a 4star rating for quality because I have had one bolt head separate from bolt shaft(not direct hit on bolt).

If you are ordering a gong target from here, you might as well throw in this set to save yourself the time and effort of getting the same thing at the local hardware store. The gong hangs at a nice down-facing angle if the bolts and nuts are installed according to included instructions.

I have tried many ways to mount metal targets and this is by far the best, most cost effective way to go. Save your money and use this system first.

Shipping was very fast, and the mounting option is very well thought out with the angling and the locking nuts. I bought a few kits for my targets and I've broken 3 chains so far - not an issue with the product because no chain will hold up to rifle rounds, and we shoot high volume AK/AR fire while alternating targets so chains get hit fairly often. The only improvement I would recommend is a grade 8 bolt with a hex head instead of the anchor head, or maybe add a grade 8 washer behind the anchor head for more support around the target hole. I had an AK round hit one of the anchor heads at 100 yards and it blew half the head off. The current setup is a GREAT value, but I would be willing to pay a couple extra dollars for grade 8 bolts in the kit. I've hit grade 8 hex heads with .308 several times and so far none have failed. Overall, excellent product here though. Maybe a grade 8 option could be added at a higher price.

The chain is cut on the right length. I got a free gong and had to buy a separate mounting kit from Home Depot. It was a time consuming to ask someone to cut the chain and look for the bolts and screws. With the discounted price, the cost is almost the same. I'll just order them next time from shooting targets7.

I priced-out buying the parts for the mounting kit at Lowe's. It is cheaper and saves time to buy the mounting kits Mark offers. Don't waste time cutting your own chain. These are plug-n-play.

Very easy install. Took very little time to set up my target.

Saw some videos on Youtube on AR500 targets from ShootingTargets7.com. It convince me to get some. It came very fast and can't wait to use it. I am sure that we will have a blast using these steel targets compared to the paper targets we were using. I will post an update once I get a chance to use them.

Would highly recommend ordering the Mounting Kit along with plates. Everything required to setup the plates is included. Was at the range using my plates within two hours of receipt, without having to measure, and have chains cut.

It would be hard to go to the hardware store and pick up each piece this cheep.
